Margaret E. Sprauve Martin, M.D., M.P.H.Margaret E. Sprauve Martin is the Physician Representative to the Schneider Regional Medical Center’s District Governing Board.

Dr. Sprauve Martin is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health where she earned her Doctorate in Medicine in 1990 and a Masters of Public Health in 1991. She completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics, and fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. Dr. Sprauve Martin served on Emory University faculty as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Sprauve Martin is native Virgin Islander from the Island of St. John and a product of the Virgin Islands public education system. She was the Valedictorian of her Class at the Charlotte Amalie High School where she graduated in 1982. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Detroit in Michigan where she achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in three years.

She is the Territorial Perinatologist for the Virgin Island Department of Health and has served as the Chief of OB/GYN at Schneider Regional Medical Center for more than 11 years. Dr. Sprauve Martin is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a Sub-specialty in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She is licensed to practice in U.S. Virgin Islands and the State of Georgia.

Dr. Margaret Sprauve Martin have published several articles on topics including HIV, substance abuse and adolescent pregnancies in various notable and well recognized peer-review journals. Dr. Sprauve Martin is committed to improving the health status of this community. She has served on several boards including the United Way, Hope, Inc and Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands and was elected president of the Schneider Regional Medical staff in 2005 and 2012. In 2003, she was honored as Physician of the Year for Schneider Medical Center. For the past 15 years, she has devoted her time, skills and energies to providing quality health care to all women, especially those with high-risk pregnancies in the public health systems of the territory.

Dr. Sprauve Martin is married to Michael J. Martin. They are proud parents of Mitchell, Michelle, Braeanna and Mykal.
