On behalf of the Schneider Regional Medical Center family, I thank you for your interest in our facilities. We are very proud of the many excellent services now being provided, as well as those being expanded to meet the needs of our greater region. One of our most cherished objectives is to become the healthcare provider of choice for our population, which means excellence in clinical care, and superior customer service. We believe that we are well positioned for such distinctions, given the statistically measurable trend toward preference for locally available services.
The Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute is the newest of the Schneider Regional Medical Center facilities. Built with the Virgin Islands share of the national Tobacco Settlement Fund, CKCI is a state-of-the art diagnostic and treatment facility. We believe that our patients receive the maximum benefit when highly qualified professional staff and consultants are able to plan and coordinate a complete regimen of care utilizing the most advanced medical technology available. To have convenient access to such a valuable resource, has removed much of the anxiety and expense which had been associated with treatment planning in the past.
While I am confident that our range of services encompasses many areas of great need in the community served by SRMC, there remain many critical challenges. We must constantly generate or otherwise identify adequate resources to meet the needs of our underinsured population. Our performance improvement initiatives in all areas, including customer service, are vital to our ability to do so, as well as to build upon the public's confidence in our fully accredited organization. A new standard in healthcare has been established by our efforts, and we are committed to its steady advancement to the benefit of all.
