Practices as an accountable health care professional in providing psychiatric care i.e. correct treatment, correct medication, and accurate documentation.

Promotes the realization of optimal health in individuals through health teaching.

Collects data through observation based on knowledge of psychiatric nursing and theories; Uses problems solving in developing a psychiatric nursing care plan; Participates with members of the multidisciplinary team in assessing planning, implementing, and evaluating a care plan for clients; Modifies the environment to establish and maintain therapeutic milieu.  This person is trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention.
