This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their respective Department. Assess the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient in order to formulate the nursing diagnoses and plan of care during the post anesthesia period. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate the patient in the immediate post-op period. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to continue with an initial systems assessment. Demonstrates commitment to the patient’s pain management by performing initial and on-going assessments using the approved pain scale and documenting according to policy. Demonstrates awareness of the patient’s safety in the Recovery Room:
- Fall Precautions
- Treatment of hypothermia
- Maintenance of crash cart and defibrillator
- Hand washing protocols
Demonstrates ability to provide equipment and supplies needed in the care of the patient and the skills to operate it. Demonstrates ability to assess readiness for discharge according to the approved discharge criteria and participates in discharge teaching with the patient and their family/significant others. Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with computers.
