This person assumes responsibility and accountability for the duties of the position and is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the Schneider Regional Medical Center and their respective Department. Documents assessments which accurately describes the patient’s condition and reflects knowledge of current nursing practice standards. Implements and documents a comprehensive, goal-oriented plan of care which is outcome based and meets the patient’s needs throughout the course of treatment. Implements age-specific patient and family teaching based on plan of care identified and anticipated needs and discharge plan. Demonstrates clinical competence in critical thinking and in the performance of clinical skills. Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to the hospital’s emergency plan, codes, and procedures and responds according to the situation. Delegates tasks/assignments to staff as appropriate. Follows up on assigned tasks to ensure successful patient outcomes. Recognizes potential, problematic situations and refers appropriately. Performs charge nurse duties and manages the unit independently. Accepts basic leadership roles and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, teaching ancillary and other staff members to meet the needs of clients, acts as a role model. Demonstrates the knowledge of the use of equipment. (PCA Pump, CMP Machine, IV & feeding Pump, Hoyer Lift, Bedside Scale). Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer BLS certification. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with computers.
