Mulchand Mulo Alwani

Mulchand Mulo AlwaniMulchand (Mulo) Alwani was born in Damascus, Syria. He later moved with his family, to Bombay, India, where he received his primary and secondary education .

Mulo received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut; following graduation he joined his family business in Beirut, Lebanon, and Damascus, Syria.

Mulo is a retired business entrepreneur, who has been very successful in the duty free jewelry business for more than 40 years. Mulo, and family, have owned and operated businesses in Jamaica, St. Martin and the US Virgin Islands.

He is an upstanding member and active contributor and to the Virgin Islands and Indian Communities.

Mulo is a former and current member of the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce, President of India Association of the Virgin Islands, and Past Master of Harmonic Lodge #356 E. He was also actively involved with organizations such as United Way, Partners for Health, and the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands. Mulo has been a Rotarian since 1976 and is Past District Governor of Rotary International District 7020.

In 1995, St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce awarded Mulo with “Community Service Award” for outstanding contribution to the Virgin Islands Community. In 2014 he received Peacemaker Award from Family Resource Center, Inc.

Since 1997, Mulo Alwani has continued to serve as a member of the St. Thomas/St. John District Governing Board and is a member of the Board Finance Committee. He was married to Sarla and he has two children Papita and Vinod, he has two grandchildren Ania and Nikko.
